As a teacher with over 10 years of experience, and a fan of maths, but an even bigger fan of football, I originally created this game to raise the profile of maths in my classroom.
As any teacher will tell you, the foundations of maths, multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction, are vital throughout a child’s academic life. My journey with Math Striker began when I noticed that many children were reaching the end of primary school lacking confidence in these key areas and working below expected standards.
This was not due to a lack of ability, but rather slow and inaccurate recall of basic calculations.
At the same time, with the rise of the English Lionesses, the Women’s Premier League, and the Champions League, football had clearly become a game for everyone, not just boys, as it was often seen in the past. Football no longer divided children, it united them.
From this, Math Striker was born. An inclusive, competitive maths game designed to excite pupils and drive strong progress and attainment.
